Who Knew Concrete Could Look This Good?
Concrete is usually associated with sidewalks and construction. But with a creative mold and a little patience, it can become eye-catching furniture. In this project, a sculptural dollar-sign pedestal supports a round tabletop, finished in navy blue, warm reddish-brown, and soft off-white.
STEP 01
Shape the Dollar Sign
Start with a sturdy cardboard mold shaped like a dollar sign. Pour in freshly mixed concrete, add suitable reinforcement, and allow the piece to cure before removing the mold.
STEP 02
Make the Circular Concrete Pieces
Prepare two round molds for the tabletop and base. Square inserts form the connection points so the pieces can be fitted together after curing.
STEP 03
Assemble the Sculptural Base
Set the circular base on a level surface and position the dollar-sign support carefully. Check the alignment and use a structurally sound attachment method before adding the top.
STEP 04
Paint and Refine the Finish
Give the tabletop a soft off-white finish, trace the edges with reddish-brown trim, and paint the dollar-sign pedestal a deep navy blue.
STEP 05
Reveal the Finished Table
Bring the finished piece into a cozy living room. The bold dollar-sign base becomes a conversation-starting centerpiece beneath the clean circular top.
A Bold Centerpiece for Any Room
The finished table combines playful design with a polished look. Its dollar-sign support makes it instantly recognizable, while the restrained color palette helps it fit into a modern living room.
