Former Alaska governor and one time vice presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, got candid of her divorce from ex-husband Todd after 31 years of marriage.
Todd filed for divorce back in 2019, citing, “incompatibility of temperament between the parties such that they find it impossible to live together as husband and wife,” Fox 5 reported at the time.
Speaking of the separation, the “Mother of MAGA” called the experience shattering. “It was the most earth shattering bizarre thing I could have ever imagined and it kind of remains so,” she said.
Allegedly, she first learnt of her ex’s plan to call the marriage quits through an email from his attorney. And while Todd is spending time with his girlfriend, whom he’s been dating for quite a while, Sarah also found love with former New York Rangers player Ron Duguay.
Duguay, who is said to had dated Farrah Fawcett back in the day, was previously married to former model Kim Alexis.
The relationship between Palin and Duguay started when she reached to him for some advice regarding her defamation suit against the New York Times. That whole mess started because of an editorial that blamed her political group for a mass shooting. In the end, a federal judge threw the case out because she couldn’t prove the paper knew what they printed was false or showed reckless disregard for the truth.
Speaking of her new relationship, Palin said, “Ron is the first person that I’ve ever even talked to about a lot of this personal stuff.
“So it’s been helpful and refreshing to have Ron to talk to about not just politics because he’s got more common sense in his little finger than the collective in DC but just about life.”
While Duguay has been supportive of her political career, Palin has been by his side through his battle with stage IV colon cancer.
As per US Weekly, Duguay’s daughter Shay Thomas spoke of her father’s relationship and praised Palin for always being there. “She’s been involved and incredibly supportive in my dad’s entire journey,” she told the outlet.
“Their relationship can obviously be challenging because they live long distance. She’s in Alaska, he’s in Florida. But they have always remained close.
“If we ever need her for something, she would take a red eye flight on short notice,” Thomas said of Palin. “If we have stuff with our kids and couldn’t make it — for example, my dad had a surgery where they went into his colon and liver — and she stayed with him in the hospital for five days. She’s been a huge source of support. Not only for my dad, but for our entire family.”
She added that they are incredibly grateful to have Palin in their lives.
